Visible from the south west coast of Tenerife is the tranquil, beautiful island of La Gomera where a myriad of contrasting landscapes is just waiting to be discovered. Deep ravines are covered by a blanket of emerald Laurisilva that stretches over the upper regions of the island which are almost permanently enveloped in thick clouds and mist, resulting in the lush and diverse vegetation unlike that of any other island in the Canaries. The Eden-like woodland provides more than just beautiful scenery, with orange, almond and prickly pear plants peppered throughout.
The dense forests of Garajonay in La Gomera just beg to be explored, with thick gnarled tree roots and branches reaching through the enigmatic wood whilst rays of light pierce the thick canopy of leaves and humble streams hurry by to join cascading waterfalls.
Offering a complete contrast to the dense forests of the centre and north of the island, Valle Gran Rey and San Sebastian in the south are laden with exotic beaches where harmonious waves lap on volcanic black sand, whitewashed harbours are dotted around the coast and sleepy hidden villages are tucked into the lush mountain side.
An antidote to its bustling neighbours, La Gomera invites visitors to experience nature in its purest form.
